Visa Arrangement: The special Visa for traveling to Tibet will be processed by us. A Photocopy of passport and 2 photographs of passport size needed 2 along with the following details should be reached us at least 3 weeks prior to tour departure date.
I) Name as in Passport with six months valid. II) Sex III) Date of Birth IV) Profession (V) Address.
Temperature and Weather: Weather conditions from May to September in Tibet, can be expected to be dry and sunny, with precipitation in July and August Day time temperatures can be as high as 22 degrees centigrade in Tibet The average daily temperature will be 10 degrees centigrade, however, the day temperature can make you feel even hotter.
Health Consideration: All participants must provide health certificate given by a doctor confirming that the participant is fit to travel in altitudes above 5000 meter. Once you decide for Tibet tour, start to basic exercises, an hour’s walk, jogging daily, stretching and regular exercise should put you in the right shape (concentrate on your heart & legs - Aerobics).
Altitude Sickness: As Tibet lies at an average altitude of above 4000m, you are like to experience some the minor symptoms and discomfort of altitude sickness like headache, nausea, loss of appetite until your body acclimatizes to the elevation. This can take few hours to a couple of days, depending on the individual. Take it lightly but drink plenty of liquid. Medicine like diamox should be carried.
Currency: All major foreign currencies and Travelers Cheque are accepted in Zhangmu Bank, Zhangmu (border town), Lhasa, and Shigaste in return for Yuan. The basic unit of Chinese Currency, $1 = 8 Yuan, I Yuan=INR 5 approximately. Credit cards are not accepted.
Custom formalities: Valuable goods taken for personal use (radio & video cameras etc) should be declared at customs office for clearance. Antiques must be properly certified otherwise they may be confiscated.
Transportation: All transfer by private coach up to border. In Tibet, you will be traveling by Land cruisers and trucks to carry food, all camping gears and luggage.
Staff/guide /escort: Our highly experienced staff will be responsible for all camping & cooking arrangements and an English speaking guide will escort the group throughout the tour in Tibet.
Oxygen & Gamo bag: One oxygen cylinder will be provided in each vehicle during the tour and along with a Gamo bag. Please note that oxygen is to be used only in case of emergency.
Accommodation: The rooms at these places are very basic without any modern amenities. During the rest of the journey, camping gears shall be providing including tents, mattresses, sleeping bags and camping equipment required for the trip, Single room can not be guaranteed in Tibet portion.
Food and Beverage: We will be providing vegetarian food cooked by our Cook at campsite that will be taken from Katmandu. You will be required to bring sufficient tit bits like chocolates, biscuits, nuts, pickles, and bhujias. Etc, to add variety to the meals. There will be packed lunch during the entire Yatra in Tibet.
Photography: Still cameras, home video cameras, are allowed in to China
Insurance: Travel /medical /personal insurance should be made by the client prior before commencing the tour for safety and security.
Communication: International calls facilities in Tibet are at Nyalam (First Day in Tibet) Saga and at Darchen (The base town of Kailash). However, please be informed that it may be difficult at times to get connection. If any urgent message has to be sent to any of the participants, then please contact our office.
Clothing: Down Jacket-Can be hire, Warm thick pullover, Warm pants, Wind proof suits, Thermal sets, Poncho, Trekking Shoes, sandal, few pairs cotton & woolen socks, gloves, Monkey cap, Sun hat, Towel, Personal first Aid Kit, Flash Light with batteries, Sun glass, Water bottle, Dust Mask, Chap stick, Sun lotion, Walking stick (if necessary), Day Bag and personal belongings.
Responsibility: All arrangements within Tibet are solely at the discretion of the China Tibet Tourism Bureau (CTTB), a Government Organization, and we have no control over the quality of the vehicles or the facilities. Shiv Darshan Adventure. (P) Ltd. reserves the right to change itineraries without advance notice, depending on the weather and road condition.
Briefing and Orientations: There will be a briefing on the program on the day of your arrival in Kathmandu about the tour.
